Family
activity holiday Scotland I
have a young family, they are now 10, 15 and 16 years old
and they are the reason we moved here from London 13 years
ago. We wanted somewhere where there were plenty of places
that they can play and enjoy themselves in the outdoors.
Dumfries and Galloway offers them everything, from sailing,
windsurfing, water skiing, hill clinbing, orienteering to
open farms, adventure playgrounds, quad biking, horse riding,
fishing and cycling. As my family grow older, there is always
something else for them to try. |

The Solway coast plays host to hundreds of different birds throughout
the year. We have the incredible 'invasion' of barnacle geese.
We have the brand new 'RED KITE TRAIL' where you can watch the
red kites feeding. We havehundreds of bird hides, many of them
very close to The Old Exchange

Cycling
and Mountain Biking activity holiday Scotland (click on

How lucky can we be !!!! we are at the heart of the 7stanes (Scotlands
best mountain bike trails). 7 trails based in the woods around
Dumfries and Galloway. Each has a choice of levels from easy
family cycles (3-5 miles) to difficult (serious-biker stuff).
Besides the 7 stanes, there are some wonderful quiet roads and
coastal paths with views that can simply take your breath away.

Walking
in Dumfries and Galloway
The Old Exchange is actually set on the Threave estate walk (it
runs through part of the garden) This walk links Threave Gardens
with Threave Castle. This is just the start. There is a lovely
walk around the Loch in Castle Douglas (lovers-walk). We are
surrounded in woodland and are minutes from some of the best
coastal walks in Scotland. |
