The Old Exchange - Straight out of the front door you are on the nature walk that runs from Threave gardens to Threave Castle which is one of Scotland's most romantic Castles accessed by a small boat. The Old Exchange is located at the heart of the National Trust for Scotland's Threave Estate with its internationally renowned Threave Gardens.
Threave is delightful in all seasons. It is best known for its spectacular springtime daffodils, nearly 200 varieties, some of which are unique. The garden spans some 60 acres and is made up of a large series of individual display gardens set amongst a wooded area with amazing views out to the surrounding countryside.
The individual gardens include the Rock Garden, Peat Garden, a walled fruit, flower and vegetable garden, Secret Garden, a rose garden, a heather garden and a wooded garden. There are also herbaceous borders, annual bedding displays and display glass houses. There is a dwarf conifer collection, an orchard, a number of water features and waterfalls and a fine collection of trees and shrubs. The garden is used as a training ground for the National Trust of Scotland's School of Practical Gardening..
